Arrive in Stuttgart quiet early in the afternoon. Meet up with Ezramo (Alessandra Eramo), take the metro and arrive at Atelierhaus. A lovely building in Stuttgart fit with atelier of different artists. Meet Wendelin Büchler and all toghether we go to have a kebab and a beer.
This is how started my two days experience at Max.Experimentell, monthly review about experimental music, noise, live improvising and multimedia in Stuttgart & Ludwigsburg (DE) who have already hosted such great musicians as Gino Robair (US), Polvere (IT).
On the first night of this 5th edition of the review Ezramo&Büchler duo invited me and others german artists at their atelier in Stuttgart to have a jam session all night long. The atmosphere was great…

SOUND BARRIER (It)

Sound Barrier is a project of audio/video reasearch who explores the borders between image and sound in the era of digital technologies. The starting point is constituted by excerpts of unvoiced cinema footage, mostly taken from motion/fantastic ’60/’70 movies. These excerpts are analysed and manipulated in real-time by specific softwares that extract the informations that afterward will be transformed in sounds.
Sound Barrier is the unnoticeable point where image become sound and sound become image.

I Control Nature is an action of visual and musical improvising. It is the celebration of a hypothetical instinct able to govern everything.
Performance proposes an univocal, synesthetic action, out of every academic and socially correct conception. The aim of the project is to define what “control” really represents.
Live a/v is performed using C::ntr::l the custom-made software created by Marco Donnarumma aka The !S.A.D! using PureData and AudioMulch.

LPM – Live Performers Meeting: international meeting of live audio/video performers, visual artists and vjs is back with a new (fifth) edition.
From the 29th of may to the 1th of june 2008, in the padiglione 9C of the Ex Mattatoio of Testaccio in Rome, there will be workshops, showcases and live-video performances, but most of all, a space created to explore the artform and connect the practitioners making it happen.

The 2007 edition had 295 artists registered from the following countries: France, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Poland, United Kingdom, Hungary, Austria, Turkey, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico, Macedonia, Israel, Lithuania, Australia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Serbia, Algeria. 26000 visitors during the 4 days of the meeting and the preview at Palazzo delle Esposizioni.

LPM 2008 maintains the spirit of a meeting, which has been its main characteristic since the first edition. It is conceived to be a place for comparison and exchange of information and ideas and experimentation is one of the founding elements of its ideology. LPM is a non-profit organisation where any gained funds are invested back to support the research and development of the live visual field.

Great times in Paris for Vision’r Festival Vj – http://www.vision-r.org/.
The festival had different locations around Paris: La Generale Manifacture in Sevres (where i performed I C::ntr::l Nature see pictures below), Le Yono in Paris, and the amazing structure Mains d’Oeuvres in Saint Ouen: a polifunctional 4 floors building, with two big main hall (where the most of the audio/video projects has been shown), a huge community hall (where to eat, drink and chat) , several rooms for workshops and an amazing cinema hall, where i tested one of the best spacial acoustic in Europe (i performed there toghether with G-mO the audio/video project Shut Down G8).

Many artists took part in the festival this year and obviously i hadn’t the time to see every performance. Among all projects i found really interesting and professional Juste Alice 02 (http://www.myspace.com/a_li_ce) a original and deep reinterpretation of the fabulous charachter created by Lewis Carrol, Strap on Dildos (http://vjemtv.net/strap_on_dildos) powerful and ironic performance about feminism and queer culture, Hyperspace (http://hyperespace.yroyto.com) synthethic hyperdigital 3 screens performance.
On Saturday in Salon Pro we (as FLxER Team) had a stand where we presented the upcoming LPM 5th Edition, toghether with Codanova, Vixid, Vjamm and Edirol.

A great aspect of the festival was the presence of international artists such as Elsa Vieira and Brendan Byrne (http://vjtheory.net), Toby Spark (Avit UK) that toghether with us from FLxER Team and Neologos from Vision’r (and of course other people, unfortunately i can’t mention everyone) are trying to create and support a worldwide network focused on vjing and audio/video live performances. We had really constructive conversations, so we had the chance to share. This is the best we could ask.
