I C::ntr::l Nature – Behind

Behind

The !S.A.D! is a project specialising in the creation and design of free/open source interactive audiovisual enviroments.
Its works take life in multiple forms such as audiovisual live performances, electronic/electroacoustic compositions, multimedia installations and interactive sceneries.

The understanding of the relations among nature, man and technology is the central focus in its artistic research which aims to highlight the communicativeness of human action through the use of physical computing technologies and self-designed data visualization systems.

Improvisation is the foundation of its live media compositions, a compulsive and original blend of diverse influences, from the no wave scene of the mid-1970’s in New York, through the earlier  avant-garde and noise music, to 1980’s industrial experimentations in America, Italy and Germany.

The !S.A.D! is a project conceived by Marco Donnarumma, a young multimedia artist, composer, performer and bass player who started experimenting with digital media in 2000.
He works as FLOSS developer on new free interfaces for audiovisual expression. At the moment he’s focused on PureData graphical programming enviroment, which he used to develop C::NTR::L, a Human-Computer Interface exploiting physical computing technologies.
He gained a BA with honours in New Technologies for Arts in 2007 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venezia, and besides his lecturer activities he is a curator/organizer for the international annual event – Live Performers Meeting, one of the broadest meeting dedicated to audiovisual live performances, new electronic sounds and live video.
