This is the first GISS Audio Streamer application in .mp3 format as this is the format supported on any version of Android.

You should enter your stream parameters and type ‘Start’ to start your stream.

Synopsis

Enter the stream server parameters in the main screen, than go to ‘Stream quality’ screen and enter the parameters you request :

---

Audio bitrate : the bitrate of your stream.
Audio channels : the number of requested channels ( usually mono is enough with a phone ).
Mp3 quality : the quality of encoding from 1 to 9.
Audio rate : the rate of the recording, on small models this should be put to a lower value of 8000 Hz, as a higher rate requires more processing power.
Finally, enter your stream metadata in the ‘Meta Data’ screen :

Name : name of the stream
Description : description of the stream
Genre : genre
More info : an url that describes more your project.
Then, click the ‘Start’ button and the stream should start.

Notes

On small android models, use a low value for recording ( 8000 Hz ), it has been tested with this value on an HTC Tattoo and was working fine.

The Xth Sense (XS) is a free and open source based technology; as such, its free distribution is an integral aspect of the research.
In this workshop participants build their own XS biosensor and learn how to generate interactive music from the muscle sounds of their bodies.

The Xth Sense is a novel, biophysical system that enables a performer to control and process interactive music generated in real time from her muscle sounds.
This research and the related model of biophysical music was presented to the Asian academic community on 22nd October in occasion of the SICMF/KEAMS 2011. The engagement was endorsed by Creative Scotland.
A related paper “Xth sense: a biophysical framework for the application of muscle sounds to interactive music performance” will be published soon in the Computer Music Journal Emile Vol. 9 (December, 2011).

In this workshop you will build your own low budget hydrophone with adjustable pre-amp. Ideal for beginners.
A hydrophone is a microphone designed to be used underwater for recording or listening to underwater sound.
Once the amp and hydrophone are complete we will then do some field recordings of near by canals, from a canoe. Participants take part in the canoeing at their own risk. No life jackets provided.
